Kings of Macedon. Alexander III ‘the Great’ (336-323 BC). AR Obol (10 mm, 0.72 g), uncertain mint in the East, c. 325-300. Obv. Head of
Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞAN[ΔPOY], Zeus
seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and
eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; below throne,
monogram. Price 40009; Müller 1623.
Very rare. Struck slightly off center
and with minor porosity, otherwise, very fine.
