Celtic Gaul. Coriosolites. BI Stater (24 mm, 6.07 g), c. 100-50 BC. Obv. Celticized head of Apollo to right, his hair in
large spiral curls; before, volute. Rev. Celticized charioteer to right;
below, volute. DT-, cf. 2329-2341 (boar or eye instead of volute); LT-, cf. 6598 (boar instead of volute).
Very rare variety. Old cabinet tone. Minor areas of
weakness and irregular flan, otherwise, good very fine.
From the JS Collection of Celtic Coins and ex Elsen 150 (2022), lot 853 (misdescribed as having a boar below the horse).
