A note from BCD: One very clever fake has unfortunately crept in amongst the many fine and rare Greek and Roman coins in this catalogue: lot 180 is now listed as a forgery in “Les monnaies d’argent de Syros” by Helene Nicolet-Pierre and Michel Amandry in “Florilegium Numismaticum, Studia in Honorem U. Westermark Edita”. It can be found on p. 304 as D (text) and h (photo). Ironically enough, these “Syros” coins have recently been convincingly re-attributed to Pergamon.
