eAuction #50, Lot 200. Estimate: CHF 250.00
Lucius Verus (161-169 AD). AR imitative Denarius (18 mm, 2.96 g), irregular mint. Obv. L VERVS AVG ARM PARTH MAX, laureate head to right. Rev. TR P V IMP III COS II, Parthian captive seated right, hands tied behind back; trophy to right. Cf. Cohen 273 and RIC 540 (for prototype).
Magnificent iridescent toning. Minor flan crack, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
An interesting contemporary imitation of just slightly irregular style, struck with a curiously convex reverse.
