Hadrianus (117-138 AD). BI Tetradrachm (24 mm, 12.98 g), Alexandria, Egypt, dated RY 21 (136/137). Obv. AYT KAIC TPA AΔPIANOC CEB, Laureate head to right. Rev. L/K-A, Demeter standing left, holding grain-ears and poppies with her right hand and a long torch in her left. Dattari 1335; RPC 6131; Köln 1209.
Area of corrosion on obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
From the Armin Mathis Collection, purchased privately from Frank Sternberg AG, Zurich, in 1984 (dealer's ticket enclosed).
