Attica, Athens. AR Tetradrachm (29 mm, 16.95 g). New Style coinage, c. 133/132 BC, Polycharm(os),
Nikog(enes), and Aianti-, magistrates. Obv. Head of Athena Parthenos to right,
wearing triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with a vine scroll,
Pegasus above undecorated upturned cheek flap, protomes of four horses
on visor. Rev. Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; A-ӨE above
ΠOΛY-XAPM / NIKOΓ / AIAN / TI (magistrates) in five lines across field;
winged kerykeion to left, B on amphora, ME (contractor's initials)
below; all within wreath. Cf. Thompson 377 type (unlisted month/control
letters combination.
Extremely fine.
