Ptolemaic Kings of Egypt. Ptolemy I Soter, as Satrap (323-305 BC). AR Tetradrachm (26-28 mm, 17.10 g). Struck in the name and type of
Alexander III of Macedon. Arados, c. 320-315 BC. Obv. Head of Herakles
right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY, Zeus seated left on throne,
right leg drawn back, feet on stool, holding eagle and sceptre; AP
monogram in left field. Price 3426 (Byblos); Müller 1375.
Light iridiscent toning. Obverse struck in high relief, good very fine.
From the Armin Mathis Collection, purchased privately from SBG (UBS) in 1988 (collector's ticket enclosed).
